While the government’s preparations for new regulations aimed at improving pensions continue, a striking calculation came from Social Security Expert Özgür Erdursun, who knows the minimum wage precisely. Evaluating the possibility of adding a welfare share to the inflation difference, Erdursun calculated that, according to different raise scenarios, the lowest pension could rise to 30,509 liras.

Millions of retirees are closely following the government's preparations for a new pension regulation for 2027, while Social Security Expert Özgür Erdursun came up with a striking salary calculation. Erdursun calculated what the lowest pension would be if a welfare share of 5, 10, 15 and 20 points were added to the inflation difference. Accordingly, in the calculation based on the base monthly pension of 23,552 lira, with a total increase of 29.54 percent, it can reach 30,509 lira per month.

NEW MODEL PREPARATION IN THE GOVERNMENT'S PENSION REGULATION

Statements that the government is working on a new model to improve retirees' incomes increased expectations for salary increases.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his assessment of the 2027 budget, had said, "We are creating financial opportunities that will improve the situation of our retirees, the crown of our heads."

Former AK Party MP Şamil Tayyar also shared details of his meeting with Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan.

According to Tayyar, the new model is aimed to be implemented as of January 1, 2027. The details of the regulation are expected to be evaluated at the Economic Coordination Board under the coordination of Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and then presented to President Erdoğan.

"OUR PRESIDENT WILL ANNOUNCE THE GOOD NEWS"

Şamil Tayyar reported that Minister Işıkhan told him, "Our President will announce the good news."

However, Tayyar also stated that Işıkhan emphasized during the meeting that there was no finalized decision yet, and reported that the Minister said, "There is no finalized decision at the moment, and we do not plan to make a statement before it is finalized."

While formulas such as welfare share and additional payment are being discussed among the options to increase retirees' incomes, it is not yet clear which of them will be implemented.

WELFARE SHARE SCENARIOS CALCULATED

Social Security Expert Özgür Erdursun evaluated possible increases in retiree salaries through different scenarios.

Taking the first six-month inflation of 2026 as 17.76 percent and the year-end inflation expectation as 29 percent, Erdursun calculated the second six-month inflation as 9.54 percent.

Accepting the current lowest completed retiree salary as 23,552 lira, Erdursun presented possible increases based on this amount.

HOW MUCH WILL RETIREE SALARIES BE ACCORDING TO THE WELFARE SHARE?

  • Inflation difference only - 9.54% - 25,800 TL
  • 5 points welfare share - 14.54% - 26,977 TL
  • 10 points welfare share - 19.54% - 28,154 TL
  • 15 points welfare share - 24.54% - 29,332 TL
  • 20 points welfare share - 29.54% - 30,509 TL
  • Base monthly pension being 30,000 TL - 27.38% - 30,000 TL

WILL THE LOWEST RETIREE SALARY BE 30,000 LIRA?

According to Erdursun's calculation, if the lowest retiree salary is directly raised to 30,000 lira, there will be an increase of 6,448 lira compared to the current amount of 23,552 lira. This corresponds to an increase of approximately 27.38 percent.

If a 20-point welfare share is added to the inflation difference, the total increase will reach 29.54 percent. In this scenario, the lowest monthly salary will be 30,509 lira according to the calculation assumption.
