A NOTABLE MOVE DURING THE CEASEFIRE PROCESS
While fragile negotiations regarding the ceasefire declared after 40 days of conflict, which began with U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, continue, the Washington administration has taken a new step that will affect the military balance in the region. The U.S. Department of State has approved a comprehensive weapons sales package for countries that struggled to defend against Iranian attacks during the war. Israel will be supplied with $1 billion worth of "Advanced Precision Lethal Weapon System" laser guidance kits.
MAJOR $5 BILLION PROCUREMENT FOR QATAR
According to the sales plan, Qatar will procure $4 billion worth of Patriot air defense systems from the U.S. The Gulf country will also purchase laser guidance kits under a $1 billion "advanced precision lethal weapon system" package.
KUWAIT AND UAE ALSO ON THE LIST
The U.S. has also approved the sale of $2.5 billion worth of integrated warfare command systems to Kuwait. The United Arab Emirates is set to receive a $147.6 million precision weapon system procurement.
"ALIGNED WITH NATIONAL SECURITY OBJECTIVES"
The U.S. Department of State emphasized in its sales notifications sent to Congress that these agreements align with U.S. foreign policy and national security goals.
