Bad Check Case and Penalty
The commercial case tried at Istanbul Anatolia 24th Enforcement Criminal Court concluded in 2025.
He was sentenced to a judicial fine and banned from issuing checks because two commercial checks he issued, totaling approximately 70 million TL, bounced. The appeal review of the file is ongoing.
July 2026 Investigation and Detention Process
Detention Date: On July 12, 2026, upon the order of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, he was detained in Bursa by Financial Crime teams and brought to Istanbul.
Charges: "Violation of the Associations Law," "laundering of assets derived from crime," and "membership in an organization."
Allegations in the File: According to the statement from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it is alleged that donations collected in the name of the Ahbap Association, especially during the earthquake period, were transferred to personal and third-party accounts, some properties acquired using the association's name were registered in the suspects' names, and approximately 990 million TL in legal betting was conducted via the accounts of the association's managers between 2020 and 2026.
Current Status: Haluk Levent has denied the allegations of irregularities against him, stating that the association was subjected to official inspections multiple times before his detention. He is expected to be referred to the courthouse after police questioning.
