It has been reported that the TFF has made a new regulation regarding the 10+4 foreign player rule. While the current system continues in the Super League, in the Turkish Cup, clubs will be able to field any 14 of the foreign players on their rosters as of the decision date.
It has been claimed that the Turkish Football Federation has taken a decision that closely concerns Süper Lig clubs experiencing difficulties in squad planning due to the foreign player quota. According to the news on HT Spor, while the TFF maintains the 10+4 foreign player rule in the Süper Lig, it will provide flexibility for clubs in the Turkish Cup.
14 FOREIGN PLAYERS ALLOWED IN THE CUP
According to the new regulation, clubs with foreign players exceeding the 10+4 limit will be able to use any 14 players among their foreign players whose contracts are still ongoing in Turkish Cup matches. This will pave the way for some footballers who are blocked by the foreign quota in the league to play in the Turkish Cup.
NEW TRANSFERS WILL NOT BENEFIT
There is also a notable restriction in the regulation. It was stated that foreign footballers transferred after the decision becomes official will not be able to benefit from this flexibility. It was reported that clubs can use this right only for foreign players who are in their squads as of the date the decision was announced.
10+4 WILL CONTINUE IN THE SÜPER LIG
The regulation introduced for the Turkish Cup will not cover the Süper Lig. Clubs will continue to comply with the current 10+4 foreign player rule in league matches.
