Why were Narin Güran's mother and brother arrested? The reason for the decision has been revealed.

The reasons for the arrest of Yüksel Güran, the mother, and Enes Güran, the brother, in the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran have been revealed. The arrest of the mother and son was justified based on the contradictions in the statements given by the suspects.

The investigation into the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing on August 21 in Diyarbakır and whose lifeless body was found 2 kilometers away in Eğertutmaz Creek on September 8, continues.

8 PEOPLE ARRESTED

As part of the investigation, 22 suspects were brought to Diyarbakır Courthouse yesterday. During the interrogation process, which lasted more than 25 hours, Narin's mother Yüksel, her brother Enes, her uncle Fuat Güran, her 2 cousins, and her aunt were arrested and sent to prison.

REASON FOR MOTHER AND BROTHER'S ARREST

Four of the suspects, including father Arif Güran, were released under judicial control, while 14 others were released. Diyarbakır 4th Criminal Peace Court justified the arrest of the mother and son based on their contradictory statements during the interrogation.

The decision, which stated that judicial control measures would be insufficient for the suspects, included the following statements: "The current evidence in the file shows strong suspicion of the crime of intentionally killing a child against the suspects Enes Güran and Yüksel Güran, the contradictions in the statements given by the suspects at different stages, the inconsistency of the suspects' accounts of the day Narin went missing, the fact that the forensic medicine report has not yet been received, the contradictions in the statements of many suspects and witnesses, and the possibility of tampering with evidence. Considering the HTS records and the entire file, there is strong suspicion based on concrete evidence for the crime alleged. Therefore, taking into account the amount of punishment that will be imposed if found guilty and in accordance with Article 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights, the strong suspicion reasons specified in Article 19 of the 1982 Constitution, and the concrete evidence indicating strong suspicion as envisaged in Article 100/I of the Code of Criminal Procedure, and considering that the measures of arrest should be proportionate to the expected punishment, it is understood that judicial control measures will be insufficient. Therefore, it was decided to arrest the suspects separately in accordance with Article 100 of the Code of Criminal Procedure."
