Snowfall hit the Karabet Pass, located on the Van-Bahçesaray highway and one of Turkey's highest passes at an elevation of 3,000 meters. As temperatures dropped and the region turned white, snow plowing and salting operations were launched to prevent disruptions to transportation.

The winter season has begun to make its effect felt in the high parts of the Eastern Anatolia Region. Karabet Pass, located on the Van-Bahçesaray highway and among Turkey's highest passes with an altitude of approximately 3,000 meters, was covered in white with the season's first snowfall. Teams took action so that transportation in the region would not be adversely affected.

3,000-METER-HIGH PASS COVERED IN WHITE

Snowfall began in Karabet Pass, known for harsh winter conditions, as air temperatures suddenly dropped. The precipitation, which made its effect felt in a short time, covered the pass and its surroundings with a white blanket.

At the pass, an important route for transportation between Van and Bahçesaray, snowfighting efforts accelerated due to the early start of winter conditions.

SNOWPLOWING AND SALTING WORKS BEGAN

In order to ensure the safety of drivers and prevent the road from being closed to transportation, Görentaş Maintenance teams affiliated with the 111th Branch Directorate of the 11th Regional Directorate of Highways began work in the region.

Teams continue snowplowing and salting works without interruption along the route where snowfall is effective.

TEAMS ON ALERT TO PREVENT DISRUPTION TO TRANSPORTATION

In Karabet Pass, where heavy snowfall and difficult weather conditions are experienced especially in the winter months, teams continue their work to keep the road open to transportation.

With the works initiated after the snowfall, drivers travel safely
