Following the 2-0 defeat against Fenerbahçe, Samsunspor President Yüksel Yıldırım made statements. Saying, 'We got off cheaply against Fenerbahçe,' Yüksel Yıldırım stated, 'Fenerbahçe is a team far superior to us. They are not our rival. Against Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, and Galatasaray, our strength seems weaker compared to last year.'
In the 3rd week of the Trendyol Super League, Samsunspor and Fenerbahce faced each other at the New May 19 Stadium. Fenerbahce won the match 2-0. Samsunspor President Yuksel Yildirim made statements after the match.
''WE GOT OFF EASILY FROM FENERBAHCE'S HANDS''
Speaking about the match, Yuksel Yildirim said, ''We got off easily from Fenerbahce's hands. It could have been 3-4-5. Fenerbahce is a much superior team to us. They are not our rival either. We had 7 injured players. 6 of them were starting eleven players. I congratulate them for qualifying for the Champions League. Our strength seems weaker compared to last year against Besiktas, Fenerbahce, and Galatasaray. Because we restructure our squad every three years. This year will be spent getting to know each other in the squad.'' he said.
“WE DON'T AGREE WITH THE COACH”
Expressing that he had disagreements with technical director Thorsten Fink regarding transfers, Yuksel Yildirim said, "I don't agree with my coach, to be honest. The coach wanted an experienced center-back. I said we have 4 young, brilliant center-backs. We can finish the league with these four. To be honest, at the end of the season Borevkovic wanted to leave. Neither he can find a club, nor can our people. I'm the one who suffered. The coach had no choice, he put him in the game today. We have no chance of getting the performance we want. I explained this to the coach. Our squad of 10+4 is full. The one player who will leave is Borevkovic. If we can send him, we will get a striker. If we can't, the transfer is basically over for us. No, we have no space. That's the problem for all teams. If we can't make transfers, there's nothing to do. There are 2 wingers, no alternatives." he stated.
