In the morning session of the second day of the tournament held in London, the capital of England, world number 88 Sönmez faced off against world number 55 Cristian. The national tennis player, who competed in the main draw at Wimbledon for the first time, defeated Cristian with set scores of 7-6, 6-3, securing her place in the next round and making history as the first Turkish female tennis player to reach the second round at Wimbledon.
