Following the footage recorded by a local citizen, gendarmerie teams took action and detained 44-year-old İ.A. The Sivas Governorship announced in a statement that the abused puppy was handed over to a shelter after undergoing health checks.

The incident occurred in the Sızır town of the Gemerek district. According to the information obtained, İ.A. (44), a resident of the town, applied violence to the 4-month-old puppy that was tied to a kennel. İ.A. repeatedly hit the dog with a stick and then left the area after a while. The incident was captured by a citizen's mobile phone camera nearby.

LEGAL ACTION HAS BEEN INITIATED AGAINST THE INDIVIDUAL

The Sivas Governorship made a statement regarding the issue. In the statement, it was noted, "In the images recorded by citizens in Sızır Town of Gemerek district, it has been observed that a 44-year-old individual named İ.A. applied violence to his 4-month-old dog. Following the sharing of these images on some media outlets and social media platforms, our Governorship instructed the district gendarmerie teams to take immediate action, and the suspect İ.A. was quickly apprehended and taken into custody. Necessary legal actions have been initiated against the individual."

THE ABUSED DOG HAS BEEN HANDED OVER TO A SHELTER

Relevant authorities, including the public prosecutor's office, have taken action regarding the incident, and procedures have been established concerning the individual. After the necessary health checks, the abused dog was handed over to a shelter by the teams of the Nature Conservation and National Parks Directorate.
