The funerals of the three girls who lost their lives after a vehicle attempting to overtake hit pedestrians at a crosswalk in Mersin were buried side by side. It was reported that 15-year-old Büşra, who was said to have died in the accident, was in intensive care and was mistakenly identified as Necla Öztürk during the identification process. It was learned that Kübra, who also died in the accident, was Büşra's twin sister and that they were born through in vitro fertilization.

Three young girls lost their lives in an accident in Mersin when a vehicle hit them at a pedestrian crossing. Their funerals were held side by side, and families and citizens experienced great sorrow.

3 PEOPLE DIED IN THE ACCIDENT

The accident occurred yesterday around 20:45 at the Bekirde Junction on Gazi Mustafa Kemal Boulevard in the central Mediterranean district of Çilek. M.K. (25), who was driving the vehicle with license plate 33 ATE 039, hit those waiting on the median to cross the pedestrian crossing while trying to overtake a truck. Three people died in the accident, and three others were injured. It was learned that the driver was taken into custody and that procedures were ongoing at the police station, while the bodies were also taken from the morgue today. The deceased were reported to be Zehra Serdil Atak (18), Kübra Güney (15), and Nejla Öztürk (16).

The three bodies taken from the hospital morgue were brought to the Toroslar Güneykent Cemetery. After the funeral prayer held there, the remains of the three girls were laid to rest in graves opened side by side amid tears and prayers. The families, relatives, and attendees of the ceremony experienced great sorrow.

Many citizens, along with the District Governor of Mediterranean, Zeyit Şener, and the families, attended the funeral ceremony.
