Ahmet Özer, who was removed from the position of Mayor of Esenyurt, was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison for the charge of "being a member of an armed terrorist organization" in the "City Consensus" case. Özer is not expected to enter prison.
The case of "urban consensus" involves Ahmet Özer, who was detained and arrested on October 30, 2024, and is being tried on charges of "membership in an armed terrorist organization" with a prison sentence ranging from 7.5 to 15 years. Today, he appeared in the defendant's chair for the fourth time.
In the last hearing, the prosecutor requested a sentence of up to 15 years for Özer. The court panel sentenced Özer to 6 years and 3 months in prison for committing this crime based on the allegation of membership in a terrorist organization, in line with the prosecutor's opinion.
It is not possible for Özer to enter prison after the local court's decision. The appeal route is open.
ÖZER IS ALSO BEING TRIED WITHOUT REMAND IN THE İBB CASE
Özer was arrested for the second time on January 20 due to the investigation conducted based on the statements given by Aziz İhsan Aktaş, whose name appears as "leader of a criminal organization" in the indictment known to the public as the "Beşiktaş Indictment," in order to benefit from "effective remorse." He faces a sentence of up to 704 years in prison.
After accepting the indictment, the Istanbul 1st Heavy Criminal Court issued a decision on November 11, 2025, to release Ahmet Özer under judicial control measures in the form of a travel ban.
Özer will be tried without remand in the Aziz İhsan Aktaş case, which will begin its first hearing on January 27 in Silivri.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Özer, who was detained and sent to prison last October as part of the investigation, had his detention lifted during the 3rd session of the trial.
