The Director General of Arab Affairs at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Taha al-Ahmed, stated that the 4-day deadline given to the SDF has not been extended, adding that the organization's requests for an extension are aimed at buying time.

The Director General of Arab Affairs at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Taha al-Ahmed, denied claims that the 4-day period granted to the PKK/YPG's Syrian extension, the SDF, regarding the future of Hasakeh province has been extended.

CLAIMS OF "CEASEFIRE EXTENSION" ARE BASELESS

Ahmed reminded that the consultation period in question would end at 20:00 this evening, emphasizing that the claims made just hours before the deadline about the extension of the ceasefire between the parties do not reflect the truth. He stated that the SDF has continuously requested extensions and ceasefires to gain time, and that no positive response has been received so far to the proposals presented by the Syrian government.

CEASEFIRE VIOLATIONS CONTINUE

Despite the good faith steps taken by the Syrian side, Ahmed expressed that ceasefire violations continue, noting that developments on the ground clearly demonstrate this situation.

Ahmed reminded that all weapons in the country should be under the Syrian Ministry of Defense and the Syrian Ministry of Interior. He emphasized that the entry of PKK elements into Syrian territory is contrary to international law and Syrian laws, stating that these violations will be addressed within a legal framework.

A 4-DAY PERIOD WAS GRANTED TO THE SDF

In a statement made by the Syrian Presidency on January 20, it was noted that a common understanding had been reached on some topics regarding the future of Hasakeh province in the negotiations with the SDF. The statement announced that a 4-day consultation period was granted to the SDF management to prepare a detailed plan for the integration process of the regions.

CONDITION OF COMPROMISE AND MILITARY DEPLOYMENT

It was reported that if an agreement is reached between the parties, the Syrian army units would not enter the city centers of Hasakeh and Qamishli, and that the units would be deployed on the outer borders of the cities. It was also stated that the timeline and details regarding the peaceful integration of Hasakeh province, including Qamishli, would be addressed in the ongoing process.
