TEHRAN WAS HIT AT NIGHT

Israel launched a new wave of attacks on Iran's capital, Tehran, at midnight. Explosion sounds were heard from various points in the capital. Iranian state television reported that the attacks were concentrated in the Shahriyar district.

METRO STATIONS BECAME SHELTERS

Following the attacks on Tehran by Israel, the Iranian government declared the city's metro stations and underground parking lots as temporary shelters for civilians. Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani announced on state television that metro stations would remain open 24 hours starting from Sunday night. Tehran City Council President Mehdi Chamran stated that there are no bomb shelters in the city, which is why the public is being directed to basements and tunnels.

"NO SHELTERS, MEASURES ARE TEMPORARY"

Chamran told reporters, "Unfortunately, we do not have shelters in Tehran and our other cities. We can use the metro system in extreme crisis situations, but for that, we need to completely shut down the system." He also mentioned that underground parking lots could be converted into temporary shelters. Chamran further indicated that similar measures could be brought back, referencing the bombings during Saddam Hussein's era in the 1980s.

CITIZENS TRIED TO ESCAPE BY VEHICLE AND ON FOOT

After the attacks, while many areas in the capital experienced power outages and infrastructure damage, panicked civilians tried to leave Tehran by vehicle or on foot. Videos shared on social media showed people walking through clouds of dust in the streets, parents carrying their children on their backs, and families fleeing with their emergency belongings.

The attacks concentrated around some of Tehran's busiest points, including Tajrish Square, Shariati Street, Vali Asr Square, and Jerusalem Square. These areas are known as the most crowded in terms of both commerce and population in the city. Especially, Vali Asr Street stands out as one of Tehran's main transportation and shopping arteries.

ISRAEL HAD THREATENED, "TEHRAN WILL BURN"

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened that if Iran continues its missile attacks against Israel, Tehran "will burn."

Katz addressed Iran's religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stating, "If attacks on Israeli civilian areas continue, the Iranian people, especially the people of Tehran, will pay a heavy price for it."

In a written statement targeting the Iranian regime with harsh words, Katz said, "The Iranian dictator is taking his own people hostage. He is bringing to life a reality where the Iranian people will pay the price for attacks that constitute a crime against Israeli citizens. If Khamenei continues the attacks, Tehran will burn."
