On August 4th, yacht manufacturer Halit Yukay, who lost his life when his boat was wrecked off the coast of Marmara Island, was laid to rest in Istanbul 19 days after his body was recovered from a depth of 68 meters in the sea and handed over to his family. Halit Yukay's funeral was held at Ümraniye Hekimbaşı Cemetery, where his close friend Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ was overcome with tears.
Famous businessman and yacht manufacturer Halit Yukay went missing after setting sail from Yalova to Bozcaada on August 4. Search efforts, initiated after his boat was found broken and partially submerged, lasted for 30 days with the support of the Turkish Navy. Yukay's identity was confirmed 19 days later when his lifeless body was found at a depth of 68 meters off the coast of Marmara Island, identified by the watch on his left wrist and security camera footage.
THE FUNERAL WAS SENT TO ISTANBUL
After days of waiting due to adverse weather conditions, the TCG Işın ship was followed by the TCG Alemdar ship and specially trained divers, who successfully retrieved Yukay's body from the sea using an elevator system. The body was brought to Bandırma Port by a Coast Guard boat and sent to the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institution for an autopsy. After examinations, Yukay's body was handed over to his family and taken to Istanbul.
LOVED ONES DID NOT LEAVE HIM ALONE
Many famous figures, including Seda Bakan and Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ, as well as numerous people from the business world, were present at the funeral. As tears flowed during the ceremony, loved ones paid their last respects to the famous businessman. The funeral prayer was held after the noon prayer at the Marmara Theology Mosque. Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ, who experienced difficult moments at the funeral, cried for minutes. Halit Yukay's body was buried at the Ümraniye Hekimbaşı Cemetery.
The investigation into the accident is being conducted by the Bandırma Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and it is believed that the famous businessman lost his life as a result of a collision with a cargo ship named "Arel 7." The exact cause of death will be clarified by the autopsy report.
