Minister Tekin: There is no model like Imam Hatip in the world

"THERE IS NO MODEL LIKE IMAM HATIP IN THE WORLD"

Emphasizing that Imam Hatip schools are the only model in the world where both positive sciences and religious sciences are taught together, Minister Tekin stated, "I consider the struggle for Imam Hatip and the existence of Imam Hatip schools as an indicator of democratic political life in Turkey. There is no model like Imam Hatip in the world. There is no such example in any other country. Why are we not turning this heritage into a global brand? In different countries around the world, we can create an international brand for Imam Hatip that teaches both positive and religious sciences. Together with our General Directorate of Religious Education, we have embarked on a journey to transform Imam Hatip schools into an international brand," he said.

MANDATORY EDUCATION PERIOD IS BEING SHORTENED

Minister Tekin also made an important statement regarding the 12-year mandatory education period during a program he attended yesterday, saying, "There has been a public opinion forming that it would be correct to reduce the 12-year mandatory education, and we are planning to make a revision. As a government, we need to make a decision. We will share that decision when we make it."
