With the arrival of winter, the indispensable scent of Süleymanpaşa streets has risen once again. The chestnuts sold from mobile carts have returned to the scene as the weather has turned colder. Priced at up to 175 lira per kilogram, chestnuts are attracting the attention of citizens both for their price and for their sizzling taste on a hot stove. As the cold weather increases, the crowd at the stalls is also growing steadily.
"WE SELL 500-600 KILOS A DAY"
Chestnut seller Orhan Akbaş stated, "Our chestnut season has begun, it is a remedy for all ailments. It regulates heartbeats. There is a high demand for our special winter food. We sell an average of 500-600 kilos a day. Our citizens consume it with pleasure. We sell winter fruit at 175 lira per kilogram," he said.
