The countdown for the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup has begun. The group draw for the massive tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, will take place tomorrow at 20:00 TRT in Washington. The Turkish National Football Team will participate in the World Cup if they pass the playoff round and will learn their group opponents through this draw.
42 COUNTRIES HAVE GUARANTEED PARTICIPATION, 6 TICKETS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED
For the first time in history, the World Cup will be played with 48 teams, and so far, 42 countries have secured their participation rights. The remaining 6 countries will be determined after the European Qualifiers playoffs and intercontinental playoff matches. Turkey will face Romania in the playoff semifinals. If they win, they will play away against the winner of the Slovakia – Kosovo match in the final to seek a World Cup ticket.
2 MILLION TICKETS SOLD, STADIUM SCHEDULE TO BE ANNOUNCED AFTER THE DRAW
It has been announced that approximately 2 million tickets have already been sold for the World Cup matches. The stadium schedule and match start times will be announced on Saturday after the draw.
COUNTRIES PARTICIPATING IN THE DRAW HAVE BEEN REVEALED
Among the 42 countries participating in the draw, there are many football giants. Strong teams such as Spain, Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Germany, and the Netherlands have been placed in the pots. Turkey will be in pot 4 if they pass the playoff.

THERE WILL BE A CONFEDERATION RESTRICTION IN THE GROUPS
No group will have more than one team from the same confederation. Since there will be 16 teams from UEFA, a maximum of two European teams can be placed in the groups. Additionally, FIFA will ensure that strong teams do not face each other early in the draw system, preventing matchups like Spain–Argentina and France–England from occurring before the group stage.
