According to the latest assessments of the General Directorate of Meteorology, a partly cloudy weather is expected in the northern and inland regions of Turkey. Thunderstorms and heavy rain will be particularly effective along the Black Sea coasts and in some parts of Eastern Anatolia. Generally, a mostly clear and slightly cloudy weather prevails in the rest of the country.
RAIN WARNING FOR THE BLACK SEA
Today and tomorrow (Thursday), especially along the Western Black Sea coasts, in the regions of Samsun, Trabzon, Rize, Artvin, Erzurum, Kars, Ardahan, as well as in the inland areas of Ordu and Giresun and the coastal districts of Kastamonu, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected. The meteorology department is urging citizens to be cautious against short-term but severe weather events in these areas.
TEMPERATURES RISING
A regional increase in air temperatures is also observed. A rise of 3 to 5 degrees is expected along the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, while no significant changes are anticipated in other regions. Temperatures exceeding seasonal averages may reach up to 35 degrees, especially in the western and southern regions.
THUNDERSTORMS COMING TO ISTANBUL
While local showers are expected in the Eastern Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia at the beginning of the week, local rains may also be effective in the Marmara and Western Black Sea regions towards the weekend. Especially in Istanbul, short-term showers are expected on Friday, and thunderstorms with heavy rain at the beginning of next week.
On Tuesday, strong thunderstorms are expected in the southern parts of the Aegean, Mediterranean, and Central Anatolia. It is stated that these rains may lead to negative impacts such as flash floods, water inundation, and hail risks.
