The Times Higher Education (THE) 2026 World University Rankings have been published. Four universities from Turkey have placed in the top 500 of the global rankings. Koç University topped the list of "Turkey's best universities," followed by METU, Sabancı University, and Boğaziçi University.
One of the most prestigious higher education rankings in the world, The Times Higher Education (THE), has published its World University report for 2026. As a result of evaluations conducted in 11 different academic fields, the international positions of leading universities worldwide and Turkish universities have been determined.
THE BEST UNIVERSITIES IN THE WORLD
According to the report, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) takes the lead in business, economics, and social sciences; Stanford University stands out as the best university in the world in education and law. The University of Oxford has maintained its top position in computer science and medicine. Harvard, Stanford, and Cambridge universities have drawn attention as the "perfect trio" by entering the top 10 in all 11 categories.

THE PRIDE OF TURKEY'S TOP 500
Despite the intense global competition, Turkish universities have achieved significant visibility in the world rankings. Koç University ranked 301st overall, while Middle East Technical University and Sabancı University shared the 351st position. Boğaziçi University ranked 401st, and Istanbul Technical University ranked 501st.
