23-year-old Özlem Develi, who was wanted with a confirmed prison sentence of 4 years and 5 months from one of the 20 cases opened against her due to crimes committed with the IBAN she provided to a friend in Adana, surrendered to the police. After saying goodbye to her family in tears, Develi, who went to prison, said, "I didn't defraud anyone. Everything I have can be checked; it will be revealed that I didn't do it. Enough already."
23-year-old Özlem Develi, who lives in Adana, allegedly became friends with M.D. while going to a tutoring center in 2023. M.D. gained Özlem Develi's trust and offered the young girl, "I am doing business. My accounts are blocked, can you temporarily let me use your IBAN?" Develi opened an account at a private bank and gave it to her friend to use.
SHE GAVE HER IBAN TO HER FRIEND, NOTHING WAS LEFT UNTRIED
During this process, Develi became suspicious of M.D. not coming to the tutoring center, and 15 days later, she was called to the police station, where a fraud case was opened against her. The young girl explained the situation to the police and filed a complaint against M.D., and then had her bank account closed. It was revealed that M.D. had organized a lottery on social media platforms before the account was closed and demanded money from the winners. Those who paid the money but did not receive the products they won in the lottery complained about Özlem Develi.
4 YEARS IN PRISON AND A FINE OF 150,000 TL WAS IMPOSED
Develi entered prison last June. After staying in prison for a while, the young girl was released and received a sentence of 4 years and 5 months in prison and a fine of 149,960 TL as a result of a trial held last week at the Burdur 2nd High Criminal Court.
Out of the 20 cases opened against the young girl, 11 are still ongoing in various courts across the country.
SHE SURRENDERED IN TEARS
On January 22, while she was wanted, Özlem, who gave an interview and made the whole of Turkey cry with her tears, surrendered to the police yesterday at her home in the central Yüreğir district. The young girl said goodbye to her parents and was taken to the Tarsus Women's Closed Prison.
"THE REAL CRIMINALS SHOULD BE EXPOSED"
Ahmet Develi, the father who said his daughter was innocent and was seeking help, stated, "The real criminals should be exposed. Justice should be served. Hear our helplessness, they are taking my daughter for no reason."
"I DID NOT DEFRAUD ANYONE, ENOUGH ALREADY"
Özlem, who broke down in tears saying she did not defraud anyone, stated, "Everything about me can be checked, it will be revealed that I did not do it. Enough already."
