ACCIDENT MOMENT ON CAMERA
In the accident that occurred last week in the Kurtyeri village area of the Kandıra-Kefken Road, municipal employee Abdussamet A. noticed the approaching car and ran back. However, the collision became inevitable when the driver changed lanes. The young man, who rolled in the air due to the impact of the collision, survived with injuries. Abdussamet A. was rushed to the hospital by his friends who arrived at the scene. He was taken to Manavgat State Hospital, and it was learned that his health condition is good and his treatment is ongoing.
LOCAL RESIDENTS PROTESTED
After the accident, local residents expressed that similar incidents frequently occur in the area. Village headman Muhammed Ali Köksal stated that despite their repeated requests for speed bumps and traffic cameras, no measures have been taken: "In the summer months, speed and traffic increase. There have been fatal accidents before. There are speed bumps in surrounding villages, but we don't have any. As long as no precautions are taken, these accidents will continue."
Eyewitness Ünal Köksal noted that the driver was speeding, saying, "I saw the man flying in the air. The vehicle hit at 150-160 kilometers per hour, there were no skid marks. He survived because the ambulance arrived early; otherwise, the outcome would have been much worse."
NUMEROUS APPLICATIONS MADE BUT NO MEASURES TAKEN
The residents emphasized that the previously installed lighting system was ineffective and that the only solution is speed bumps. There are allegations that the driver was "under the influence of alcohol." An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident.
