As part of the investigation into the allegations of manipulation in Borsa Istanbul, 12 suspects, including former football player Gökhan Gönül, have been referred to the courthouse. It is expected that the questioning of the suspects will begin soon.

Borsa İstanbul (BIST) stock market, 12 suspects, including former football player Gökhan Gönül, were referred to the courthouse as part of an investigation into allegations of manipulation in some transactions.

In the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that artificial price movements were created through speculation on certain stocks, following reports from the Capital Markets Board (CMB). The 12 suspects, who were detained, completed their procedures at the police station.

After health checks, the suspects were referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan.

It is expected that the suspects will begin their statements at the prosecutor's office.

Statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office

In a statement from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that there were fluctuations in trading volume and stock prices in capital market instruments traded on the Borsa İstanbul stock market, which were contrary to the ordinary course of life, and that artificial increases had harmed small investors.

The statement indicated that 25 individuals were identified as having engaged in manipulative actions regarding the shares of Avrupa Yatırım Holding AŞ in Antalya, Samsun, Ankara, and Kahramanmaraş, and that an investigation had been initiated against these individuals for "establishing an organization to commit a crime" and "market fraud."

Within the scope of the investigation, it was stated that suspects Onur Yılmaz, Mehmet Yılmaz, Emre Kızılırmak, Erol Demir, Osman Özsoy, Suat Hamarat, and Sebahattin Azizağaoğlu were held in prison, while former football player Gökhan Gönül, Aref Ghafouri, Bedri Erdoğan, Cemal Çetinkaya, Furkan Koçak, Alper Atalay, İlker İlhan, Muhammet Erdoğan, Murat Ağcabağ, Murat Güler, Emrullah Şalk, and Akif Koç were reported to have been detained.

The statement also provided information that arrest warrants had been issued for 6 suspects, and that search and seizure judicial procedures were ongoing.
