Details regarding the robbery of the Büyükçekmece Courthouse's Trust Office have started to emerge. It has been understood that 25 kilograms of gold and 50 kilograms of silver stolen from the judicial trust safe were seized during a gold smuggling operation conducted some time ago. It has been learned that the suspect, Erdal T., was appointed and began working in the labor force in 2021.
The interesting theft was revealed during the routine inspections conducted by the public prosecutor responsible for the Custody Office of the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on December 1.
25 KILOS OF GOLD AND 50 KILOS OF SILVER STOLEN
It was determined that Erdal T., the officer in charge of the custody office of the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, had not been coming to work for a long time. Following this, the prosecutor's office, upon suspicion, had the safes opened that were in the possession of the custody officer Kemal D. It was found that the opened safes were completely empty. According to initial findings, it was revealed that approximately 25 kilograms of gold and 50 kilograms of silver were missing. After the situation was identified, the prosecutor's office contacted the police teams and issued a detention order for Erdal T. and Kemal D. The investigation revealed that Erdal T. had flown to England with his wife Esma T. and their children on November 19, 2025, at 08:22 from Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
ARREST WARRANT ISSUED
As a result, an arrest warrant was issued for Erdal T. and his wife. The other suspect, Kemal D., was detained. Statements were taken from all personnel, including the head of the writing department working in the custody office, as they were considered to have knowledge of the situation. Additionally, a search was conducted at the suspects' home addresses based on the decision of the Peace Criminal Court, but no criminal evidence was found. Meanwhile, the investigation continues with the examination of camera recordings, and HTS records belonging to the suspects' phones were also requested. It was learned that an additional detention period was obtained for Kemal D., who is in custody.
"TOTAL VALUE IS 147 MILLION LIRA"
It was determined that the gold stolen from the judicial custody was part of the gold seized during an operation against human smuggling. In a detailed count conducted at the judicial custody office, it was found that 9,906 grams of gold, 49 reşat gold coins, 438 necklaces, 66 grams of earrings, 5 kilograms of gold bars, 7 gold insignias, 167 full gold coins, 606 bracelets, 1,477 grams of bracelets, 376 half gold coins, 1,328 quarter gold coins, 40 Republic gold coins, 2,701 grams of various jewelry, 487 Ata gold coins, 6 grams of gold, and 50 kilograms of silver were missing. The calculations indicated that the total value of the stolen gold and silver was approximately 147 million lira.
"MAY GOD GIVE YOU A MARKET"
It was learned that the theft suspect Erdal T. started working at the Büyükçekmece Courthouse in 2021 as a permanent worker. The suspect, known as a calm and quiet person in his surroundings, allegedly sent messages to some of his colleagues after the incident saying, "I sold the goods. May God give you a market."
