Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, whose name appears hundreds of times in the Epstein documents, has broken her silence. Mette-Marit said, "I made a poor judgment and I deeply regret having any contact with Epstein. This is shameful. I take responsibility for not researching Epstein's past better and not understanding what kind of person he was quickly enough." There were also claims that the princess had been pregnant by Epstein at one point.
The millions of pages of Jeffrey Epstein files made public in the U.S. have once again brought the relationship between Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Epstein to the forefront of international media. The mention of the Crown Princess's name hundreds, even over a thousand times in the files has deepened discussions about the extent of their contact. New documents indicate a much more extensive network of interactions than previously reported.
THEY STAYED IN TOUCH DESPITE HIS CONVICTION
According to analyses from Norwegian and international media, the social relationship between Mette-Marit and Epstein first emerged in 2019. At that time, the Norwegian press reported that the Crown Princess had met with Epstein several times between 2011 and 2013, and despite Epstein being convicted of sexual offenses against minors in 2008, their contact continued. Mette-Marit expressed regret in a statement, saying she was unaware of Epstein's criminal history and later realized that she should not have maintained the relationship.
HUNDREDS OF COMMUNICATIONS REVEALED
The new Epstein documents published in 2026 revealed that the relationship was much more advanced than previously thought. The files contained hundreds of email correspondences between Mette-Marit and Epstein, information that the Crown Princess visited Epstein's home in Palm Beach and stayed there as a guest for at least four days. The documents indicated that there were messages containing meeting plans, social chats, and more personal tones, with some correspondences allegedly including Epstein's offers and messages directed at Mette-Marit. Some documents even reported claims that the Crown Princess had been pregnant by Epstein at one point.
Commentaries published in Norwegian and Spanish media emphasized that these new records indicated a longer and more intimate relationship than Mette-Marit had previously disclosed to the public. Analyses from the foreign press stated that the documents presented a sensitive picture regarding the reputation of the Norwegian monarchy and that the public expected clearer and more transparent explanations.
SHE BROKE HER SILENCE
While the discussions continued, Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit made a new statement regarding the Epstein files. In her statement, the Crown Princess said: "I made a poor judgment and I deeply regret having any contact with Epstein. This is shameful. I take responsibility for not researching Epstein's past better and for not understanding quickly enough what kind of person he was."
