The statement by the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, declaring the year-end inflation rate to be 31% provided a clear indication for the salary increase of civil servants and retirees. According to this estimate, the increase for SSK-Bağkur retirees will be 12.28%, while the increase for civil servants and civil servant retirees will be 18.7%. The lowest pension amount may rise to approximately 18,953 TL.

An important development has occurred regarding the salary increase that millions of civil servants and retirees have been eagerly awaiting. Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek made a critical statement about the year-end inflation at the International Democrats Union (UID) event he attended in London.

EYES ON INFLATION FIGURES

According to the current system:

  • SSK and BAĞ-KUR retirees receive an increase equal to the 6-month inflation in the second half of the year.
  • Civil servants and civil servant retirees receive an inflation difference in addition to the 11% increase from the collective agreement.

The total inflation from July to October has already guaranteed an increase of 10.25% (SSK–Bağ-Kur) and 16.55% (civil servants). The exact figures will be clarified with the data from November and December.

CLEAR MESSAGE FROM ŞIMŞEK: YEAR-END INFLATION AT 31%

Şimşek stated that Turkey's current priority is price stability, saying, "Inflation will drop to around 31% by the end of the year. We are targeting below 20% next year, and it will fall to a single digit the following year." This statement serves as a strong reference for the increase rate for civil servant and retiree salaries.

POTENTIAL INCREASE RATES ACCORDING TO ESTIMATES

Based on Mehmet Şimşek's projected year-end inflation of 31%:

  • SSK–BAĞ-KUR retiree increase: 12.28%
  • Civil servant and civil servant retiree increase: 18.7%

WHAT WILL BE THE LOWEST RETIREMENT SALARY?

If a 12.28% increase occurs, the lowest retirement salary will rise from 16,881 TL to 18,953 TL.
