National tennis player Zeynep Sönmez bid farewell to the tournament by losing 2-1 to Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan in the 3rd round of the season's first Grand Slam tournament, the Australian Open.
In the women's singles 3rd round match at the tournament in Melbourne, world number 112 Zeynep faced Putintseva, who is ranked 94th, at the KIA Arena.
LOST THE FIRST SET
Zeynep, the first Turkish tennis player to play in the 3rd round of the Australian Open, did not start the match well. The national player, who lost her serve in the second game of the first set, fell behind 3-0 after making too many unforced errors in the first three games. After breaking serve and winning the next two games, Zeynep struggled again in the 5th game and could not serve effectively. ZEYNEP WON THE SECOND SET

Resisting her opponent, who was serving to win the match, Zeynep broke serve again in the 12th game, bringing the set to a tie-break at 6-6. Defeating her opponent in the deciding game, Zeynep Sönmez won the set 7-6, leveling the match at 1-1.
