Beşiktaş's head coach Sergen Yalçın made statements after the Konyaspor match. Expressing his reaction to the referee by saying, "It's red when it happens to us, and yellow when it happens to the opponent," Yalçın also touched on transfers, stating, "We might bring in 2-3 players next week. If we can get the players we have planned for, we will, otherwise we won't."
Beşiktaş's head coach Sergen Yalçın made statements after the 2-1 victory against TÜMOSAN Konyaspor.
"THE PLAYERS SHOWED CHARACTER"
Evaluating the match, Sergen Yalçın said, "It was difficult, the games are tough. Winning matches is very hard. I don't think we started poorly; we started energetically. We conceded a goal on a counter-attack when the opponent didn't come to our goal. Despite the goal, my players showed character; they didn't give up. Then we found the goal. We fought well."
"THERE WAS A CHAOTIC ENVIRONMENT"
Touching on the reactions in the stadium, Yalçın stated, "There was a very serious chaotic environment in the stadium. This naturally affects the team. Nevertheless, winning is beautiful despite everything; it makes everyone happy. We are all happy. My players are happy too. We want to finish the season with better performances and games."
"THEY FELL PHYSICALLY"
Speaking about player substitutions, the experienced coach said, "There are players who cannot play the entire game. There are players who have just come back from injury, like Cengiz and Mustafa. I started with Cengiz and Mustafa, and we said we would make substitutions until the 60-70 minute mark. They fell physically towards the end of the game. This is natural. We made substitutions in their place. I think it had a positive effect. When we brought in strong players in the second half, it was normal for the goal to come. We pushed hard in the last 10-15 minutes."
'RED FOR US, YELLOW FOR THE OPPONENT'
Reacting to the referee's decisions, Sergen Yalçın said, "Red for us, yellow for the opponent. The opposing center-backs should have been sent off in the first half. They committed 10 fouls each and ended with one yellow card. The opponents are constantly getting warnings and yellows. Referees should be a bit more careful. Give what you see. If you give it to us, give it to them too. It's not a problem for us. We play in any way. In the last matches, they are disrupting our balance. We are playing with 10 men in matches we could easily win. The refereeing community is not very healthy, I say this with regret."
'WE CAN DROP 2-3 PLAYERS'
Touching on transfers, Yalçın said, "As a team, we cannot meet the expectations of the fans. Beşiktaş is a community that plays for championships and cups. We cannot play for expectations. I have been explaining since I arrived; we are experiencing difficulties. We are in a period of restructuring. We are moving forward while protecting both the club's economy and interests. I am not thinking about my own interests and future. No one sends a striker during such a period; we are sending one for the benefit of the club. We are considering new players. We can drop 2-3 players next week. We will take the players we can from our planning; if not, we won't."
'IT'S HARD FOR ORKUN TOO'
Sergen Yalçın concluded his remarks by saying, "It's hard for Orkun too. He is a player raised in Europe. The conditions in Turkey are completely different. Our perspective does not align with the conditions in Europe at all. Orkun is gradually getting used to it; I think he understands the environment. He is also embracing the Beşiktaş community. He will embrace it even more in the future."
