U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he has withdrawn his invitation to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to participate in the Gaza Peace Council.
A surprising move came from U.S. President Donald Trump that will anger the Canadian government. In a message shared on the Truth social media platform, Trump announced that he has withdrawn his invitation to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to join the Gaza Peace Council. Addressing Carney, Trump stated, "Please accept this letter as a notification that the Gaza Peace Council has withdrawn its invitation to you regarding Canada's participation." Trump also added that the Gaza Peace Council would be the most prestigious leaders' council ever formed.
CARNEY HAD CRITICIZED TRUMP'S POLICIES
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, in his address to the World Economic Forum (WEF), stated regarding the U.S. threats towards Greenland, "I believe NATO has clearly passed the test. The first response to this test should be to ensure Arctic security in a solid and strong manner." Carney, who argued that great powers have begun to use economic integration as a weapon, criticized Trump's imposition of tariffs, saying, "Tariffs have started to be used as a bargaining chip, financial infrastructure as a coercive tool, and supply chains as vulnerabilities to be exploited."
CARNEY HAD RESPONDED TO TRUMP'S WORDS
Additionally, responding to Trump's remarks that "Canada exists thanks to the U.S.," Carney stated, "Canada and the U.S. have established an extraordinary partnership in the fields of economy, security, and rich cultural exchange. However, Canada does not exist because of the U.S. Canada is developing because we are Canadian."
