Tensions between North Korea and the United States have reached a peak. North Korea issued a nuclear threat to the U.S., which continues to increase its military presence in Japan and South Korea, stating, "The arms buildup that raises the likelihood of an actual attack on our country would be a reckless option that jeopardizes the security of the U.S. mainland."
A threat has come from North Korea, which frequently makes headlines with its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile program, as well as military exercises.
In a statement from the North Korean government, it was reminded that the United States conducted an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) interception exercise at Fort Greely Military Base in Alaska, stating, "The exercise, conducted within the framework of a scenario for defending the mainland, is essentially an aggressive military action that brings the possibility of a nuclear war with North Korea into actual consideration. If the United States does not engage in nuclear war, our country's strategic nuclear power will not target the U.S. mainland. In this case, there will be no need to discuss the so-called 'prevention' issue." The statement also noted, "However, defining our country's intercontinental ballistic missiles as targets to be intercepted shows that the United States acknowledges the possibility of a preemptive nuclear attack and is focused on developing its military capacity in this regard."
"IT WOULD BE A FOOLISH OPTION"
The statement emphasized that the deployment of fighter jets to U.S. bases in South Korea and Japan, which increases the military presence in the region, is a "very dangerous" move. It was stated that the increase in U.S. military capabilities in the region forces North Korea to defend itself, and it was said, "Having a strong offensive and defensive capacity against the U.S.'s arms activities targeting our country is the best option to deter the danger of nuclear war and to maintain the balance of power on the Korean Peninsula."
"IT WOULD BE A FOOLISH OPTION"
In the statement arguing that the U.S. arms moves targeting North Korea would pose a threat to the U.S. itself, it was warned that "arms moves that increase the likelihood of an actual attack on our country would be a foolish option that risks the security of the U.S. mainland."
