Pervin Buldan, a member of the DEM Party delegation to İmralı, commented on President Erdoğan's statement, "We have decided to walk this path together as the AK Party, MHP, and DEM," saying, "It should not be misinterpreted. This is a process alliance. It should definitely not be perceived as another type of alliance. Everyone's line and the path they are taking are clear."
Member of the Imralı Delegation and Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Pervin Buldan, evaluated the speech made today by President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the opening of his party's 32nd Consultation and Evaluation Meeting.
In his historic speech, Erdoğan stated, "The 47-year-old terror plague has entered a process of ending as of yesterday. Let there be no question marks in anyone's mind. Every one of our 86 million citizens, whether Turkish, Kurdish, or Arab, has won." The audience applauded Erdoğan's words for a long time, standing up.
"AK PARTY, MHP, AND DEM HAVE DECIDED TO WALK THIS PATH TOGETHER"
Continuing his statement, Erdoğan indicated that a commission would be established in the Parliament for a Terror-Free Turkey process, saying, "We will establish a commission in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and start discussing the legal needs of the process under the roof of the Assembly. I emphasize that we will carry this process forward as the People's Alliance and with the DEM Delegation. The DEM Delegation met with our Speaker of the Assembly yesterday. I hope that our Assembly will support this beneficial process with the widest possible participation. Better things will happen. The steps taken yesterday have created very different voices in Iraq, and it is essential for our Kurdish brothers in Syria to live in peace. Now, AK Party, MHP, and DEM have decided to walk this path together as a trio. We have concerns, and we are troubled. Since we have concerns and we are united, with God's permission, we will overcome these obstacles. Let everyone know that there is no need to clench fists anymore. Turkey will grow in brotherhood and strengthen in democracy. You will see that we will soon reach a very different Turkey. We provide every kind of convenience to those who take a step. Remember, we open the door wide for those seeking a way out. But if the waters flow in reverse, we will take the necessary actions. No one should be anxious," he said.
"I FIND THE SPEECH VERY VALUABLE"
Buldan pointed out that President Erdoğan has shown a constructive, inclusive, and embracing approach to the process for the first time, saying, "Honestly, I find the speech very valuable and precious. There were important messages regarding what needs to be done in terms of the process and the steps to be taken from now on."
"IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR HIM TO MAKE A SELF-CRITICISM ON BEHALF OF THE STATE"
Buldan stated that Erdoğan's speech was very important for the DEM Party, saying, "In addition, it was important for him to present the mistakes made by the state in the past as a form of self-criticism, referring to unsolved murders, White Toros, village constructions, and the periods when speaking Kurdish was banned. When we evaluate all of these together, I think the speech was very positive, inclusive, and embracing in terms of content."
"ERDOĞAN SAID HE CAN ADVANCE THIS PROCESS WITH THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE AND DEM PARTY"
Buldan expressed that President Erdoğan now has a clear line and determination, stating, "There is an emphasis that important steps will be taken regarding what needs to happen from now on. The process continues with certain stages. In the next stages - as he also expressed - he stated that this process could progress through dialogue, negotiation, and coming together, especially with the commonality of the People's Alliance and the DEM Party. This was also important," she said.
"THE MESSAGE GIVEN BY THE PRESIDENT WAS A SIGNAL THAT THIS UNITY WILL BE THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS"
Buldan made the following evaluation regarding Erdoğan's words, "Now, AK Party, Nationalist Movement Party, and DEM have decided to walk this path together at least as a trio":
"Let it not be misinterpreted. This alliance is a process alliance. It should not be perceived as another alliance at all. Everyone's line and path are clear. Therefore, this was a message that the DEM Party would walk a common path with the People's Alliance throughout the process. Of course, we, as the DEM Party, are at the very center of this process, but it is the People's Alliance that needs to solve it. Therefore, such a unity and commonality will be meaningful. I think we should call this a process unity. The message given by the President was also a signal that this unity would be throughout the process."
"AS THE PROCESS DRAGS ON, IT MAY CAUSE PROVOCATIONS AND DIFFERENT INITIATIVES"
Buldan noted that Erdoğan's speech could be seen as a sign that the process would now accelerate, saying, "We already had information that the commission would be established shortly. He also expressed this today. I think every step should be taken as soon as possible without prolonging it. As you know, the longer the process drags on, it can lead to provocations and different initiatives," she said. Buldan emphasized that the faster each step is taken, the quicker the process will achieve success, stating, "Of course, the commission is a certain stage of this. With the concrete establishment of the commission, it is important to quickly determine the laws to be enacted and for these to become law and come into effect with the opening of the Assembly."
"THESE ISSUES NEED TO BE REMOVED FROM TURKEY'S AGENDA"
Buldan noted that Erdoğan made a self-criticism for the first time in a long time, stating:
"Unsolved murders have always existed in the Republic of Turkey. They existed before the AKP and during the AKP period as well. I think we need to look ahead from now on. If this is a self-criticism, then issues like unsolved murders, disappearances, and extrajudicial killings need to be removed from Turkey's agenda. There have been long-standing struggles in this regard. There are the Saturday Mothers and the struggles of the relatives of the missing. I think steps need to be taken in this regard. There are still mothers who want to reunite with their children who have no stones, soil, or graves. Therefore, when we evaluate all of these together, it is time to address these issues, perhaps by discussing them within the commission that will be established, while also considering the past and this process."
"SYRIA IS A SEPARATE PLACE"
Regarding President Erdoğan's statement about the Kurds in Syria, Buldan said, "'We already have discussions regarding Syria,' he said. This is important, his reference to the Kurds outside the borders, saying it is our issue, and signaling that Turkey will be at the center of determining the policy regarding the Kurdish issue in the Middle East is significant, but Syria is a separate place," she said.
"SINCE WHAT HAPPENS IN ROJAVA AFFECTS ALL KURDS, A SOLUTION MUST BE FOUND THERE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE"
Emphasizing that there are still unresolved issues in Syria, Pervin Buldan stated, "There are still some issues that need to be resolved in the Syrian matter, especially those that have been reflected in the press in recent days regarding Rojava and that we have derived from our readings. If there are important developments regarding these, I would like to express that the issue needs to be resolved in some way, at least for the Kurds living in Syria. Since what happens in Rojava affects all Kurds, a solution must be found there as soon as possible," she said.
