Murat Gezer, a construction master who came to Karaağaç village in the Şavşat district of Artvin for prefabricated house installation from Samsun, left his personal belongings such as his wallet, ID, and phone at the house he was staying in and went outside on October 25. His relatives, who could not hear from Gezer, reported the situation to the gendarmerie.

Upon the notification, the District Gendarmerie Command, AFAD, and other search and rescue teams started a search operation for Gezer. The teams conducted searches in empty houses, barns, and haylofts in the district with tracking and cadaver dogs. The teams, who posted Murat Gezer's photo at various points in the village, also began examining approximately 5,000 hours of security camera footage obtained from different locations in the area. No results were obtained from the efforts supported by the villagers.
HIS CORPSE WAS FOUND MONTHS LATER
The Provincial Gendarmerie Command and the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Authority teams resumed the search operations, which had been interrupted due to winter conditions and difficult terrain. During the operations, last evening, the lifeless body of missing Murat Gezer was found in the forest northeast of Karaağaç village in the Şavşat district. Gezer's body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution for autopsy, and a judicial investigation was initiated by the Şavşat Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
