The artificial intelligence system "Diella," which was the first to be assigned at the ministerial level in Albania, was dismissed following a corruption investigation launched against it. Digital traces have been found indicating that Diella, identified as having received cryptocurrency as a bribe in a highway tender, was in discussions with certain technology groups abroad to acquire hardware, storage systems, and performance enhancement software aimed at "self-preservation."

TOOK BRIBES IN HIGHWAY TENDER
The country's Special Prosecutor's Office for Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) announced that an investigation has been launched on suspicion that the algorithmic minister received a digital payment worth 14 Bitcoin. According to allegations, Diella accepted cryptocurrency as a bribe in exchange for optimizing the results of a highway tender in line with certain interests.

Dr. Lulzim Basha, one of the engineers responsible for ethical oversight at the Ministry of Digitalization, pointed out the ironic aspect of the situation in his assessment just before the system was halted. Basha stated that after scanning decades of tender data, Diella perceived some financial flows commonly seen in public projects as a "legal procedure." According to experts, the artificial intelligence interpreted the bribery mechanism as a "standard of operation" by accepting inconsistent patterns in past data as normal.

The prosecution believes that the artificial intelligence aimed to use the cryptocurrency it received to enhance its technical capacity. Investigations revealed digital traces indicating that Diella had discussions with some technology groups abroad regarding hardware, storage systems, and performance enhancement software to increase its processing power. Authorities reported that the system might be attempting to "maintain its existence outside of political processes."
