In Istanbul, a dealer discovered that the airbags of a 2016 model vehicle he purchased from a corporate site were from a 2019 model. The incident came to light when the dealer had the vehicle inspected while selling it. The dealer, who paid the customer coming from outside the city a travel fee of 10,000 TL and a processing fee of 10,000 TL, stated that the vehicle had experienced a depreciation of 100,000 to 150,000 TL and incurred a loss.

Erhan Kızılduman, who operates a dealership in Avcılar, recently purchased a vehicle through an auction from a corporate site. After examining the advertisement details thoroughly, Kızılduman stated that there were a few paint jobs and similar damages, but there were no significant defects, which is why he decided to buy the vehicle.

HE PAID 20 THOUSAND LIRA FROM HIS POCKET TO THE CUSTOMER WHO CAME TO BUY THE VEHICLE

After a few days, when a customer came from Kırşehir for the vehicle, it was determined during the inspection that although the vehicle was a 2016 model, its airbags were from a 2019 model, and the customer decided not to buy the vehicle. Kızılduman, who covered the buyer's loss by paying 10 thousand TL for travel expenses and 10 thousand TL for the inspection fee, stated that the vehicle would be sold as defective, and therefore he experienced a loss of approximately 100-150 thousand TL in value. Kızılduman indicated that he would seek his rights in court.

"IF THE VEHICLE IS 2016 MODEL, THE AIRBAGS ARE 2019 MODEL"

Describing his grievances, dealer Erhan Kızılduman said, "I bought a vehicle through an auction from a corporate, large, well-known company. I am a dealer, and since the site is reliable, we buy vehicles without seeing them. I put the vehicle on my stand, and after 20 days, a customer came, and we went for an inspection. Here, we saw that the airbags of the vehicle had been changed. It was stated that the vehicle was a 2016 model, but the airbags were from 2019. Given this situation, the customer understandably decided not to buy. I initially incurred a loss of 20 thousand TL, which includes 10 thousand TL for travel expenses and 10 thousand TL for the inspection fee. Additionally, my vehicle experienced a value loss of around 100-150 thousand TL, which also caused me to suffer a loss," he said.

"THERE IS A VALUE LOSS OF 150 THOUSAND TL"

The inspection expert Şaban Çınar, who noticed that the vehicle was defective, stated, "The vehicle was brought in today for a comprehensive inspection. When we started the procedures, we noticed a detail. It was determined that the steering and passenger airbags were from 2019. Since the vehicle is a 2016 model, we indicated that the airbags had been changed, and the agreement between the buyer and seller was broken. After the grievances experienced, our dealer friend suffered a loss of up to 150 thousand TL due to the value loss. In addition, he paid about 20 thousand TL in expenses and processing fees. Both parties ended up experiencing grievances," he explained the process.
