The Syrian government has established reconciliation centers in areas cleared of the terrorist organization YPG/SDG to ensure security and social stability. In these centers, former members of the organization who surrender are given a "guarantee document," ensuring that no sanctions will be imposed on them.
PHOTO AND FINGERPRINT REQUIRED FOR THE GUARANTEE DOCUMENT
Individuals living in neighborhoods that have been taken out of the control of the terrorist organization and who have previously been part of YPG/SDG have started to apply to the reconciliation centers established by the Syrian government. During the application process, photographs are taken and fingerprints are collected, while those who surrender also hand over their weapons and relevant documents to the authorities if they have any. After these procedures, the guarantee document is issued to the applicant, providing them with immunity assurance.
THE AIM IS REINTEGRATION INTO SOCIETY
According to a report by Yeni Şafak, Malik Suud, the Director of the Sheikh Maksut Reconciliation Center, stated that the main goal of the work carried out under the Ministry of Interior is to smoothly reintegrate individuals who have previously been part of armed groups back into society and normal life. Suud emphasized that the process is being conducted meticulously and is progressing in coordination with security units.
APPLICATIONS HAVE EXCEEDED 3,000
It has been reported that more than 3,000 people have applied to the program, which has received intense interest so far. Suud stated that 1,000 applications have been completed, while 1,000 applications are currently awaiting evaluation, expressing that the reconciliation center will continue its activities until the end of the year.
*Guarantee means "to secure, to protect, to ensure safety."
