In the operation targeting the Çeşme Municipality of İzmir on allegations of "bribery," "corruption," and "criminal organization," 10 of the 12 suspects who were taken into custody, including the Deputy Mayor, were arrested and sent to prison.
In the wide-scale investigation launched at the Çeşme Municipality in Izmir on charges of "establishing a criminal organization," "bribery," "corruption," and "forgery of official documents," there was a hot development. Of the 12 suspects detained by gendarmerie teams, 10 were arrested by the court they were brought before and sent to prison.
DEPUTY MAYOR ALSO ARRESTED
Among the suspects detained and referred to the courthouse in the operation targeting the Çeşme Municipality in Izmir; Çeşme Municipality Deputy Mayor Emre Can Durmaz, Çeşme Municipality Acting Director of Zoning and Urbanization Buğçe Sağlamer, Çeşme Municipality Acting Director of Public Works Furkan Yiğit, Çeşme Municipality Zoning and Urbanization Directorate Construction Engineer Okan Aktaş, Çeşme Municipality Acting Director of Real Estate and Expropriation Çağlayan Bingöl, ÇEŞTUR Office Chief Aziz Metin, boarding house owner Metin Akpınar, office administrative staff Aydın Aydemir, business owner Yücel Güngör, and real estate agent Şahin Özer were arrested. ÇEŞTUR Office Clerk D.S.Y. and former Çeşme Municipality Deputy Mayor O.G., who was imprisoned in another investigation, were released under judicial control.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On October 5, following a tip-off that some documents belonging to the Çeşme Municipality Zoning and Urbanization Directorate were attempted to be burned and destroyed by a cleaning worker employed at the municipality, the cleaning worker was caught red-handed by teams of the District Gendarmerie Command, and it was alleged that the instruction to destroy the documents was given by Acting Director of Zoning and Urbanization B.S.
It was determined that there was another ongoing investigation at the Çeşme Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against B.S. on charges of "bribery," "corruption," "forgery of official documents," and "establishing and leading a criminal organization." Following this, 12 suspects, including Çeşme Municipality Deputy Mayor E.C.D., Çeşme Municipality Acting Director of Public Works F.Y., Çeşme Municipality Acting Director of Zoning and Urbanization B.S., Acting Director of Real Estate and Expropriation Ç.B., and former Çeşme Municipality Deputy Mayor O.G., were detained on October 7 by teams of the Provincial Gendarmerie Command.
The suspects were referred to the courthouse yesterday.
