The excitement of the draw is being experienced in Istanbul within the scope of the 'Century's Housing Project,' the largest social housing initiative in the history of the Republic. The drawing of lots to determine the rightful owners of 100 thousand houses to be built in the city began today with a comprehensive ceremony attended by President Erdogan. Erdogan is making statements at the ceremony.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the "Host Country Turkey" themed Housing Project of the Century, launching the largest social housing initiative in Turkey's history. Within the scope of the project, 500 thousand social houses will be built in 81 provinces, and at least 2 million people will live in more solid, disaster-resistant, safe, and modern houses. The draw ceremony for 100 thousand houses to be built in Istanbul has started. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is making statements at the ceremony.
Highlights from President Erdoğan's statements are as follows:
"Today we are in beautiful Istanbul, where one era ends and another begins. This place is not just one of the cities; it is the most beautiful work of our nation, the accumulation of six centuries. Istanbul is our apple of the eye, our door opening to the world. I wish each of our citizens who will live in these homes a healthy, peaceful, and prosperous life from now on.
Dear brothers and sisters; cities are the identity documents of nations. They are the title deeds of civilizations. The roots of a nation are hidden in its cities. It is to carry culture and civilization to the future together with the nation. Being respectful to ancestors, embracing the trust, and investing in humanity. As the AK Party, we have strived to serve our nation properly for 23 years.
"WE HAVE PROVIDED 1 MILLION 762 THOUSAND SOCIAL HOUSING UNITS THROUGH TOKİ"
We are making efforts to improve the infrastructure of our cities and make them more resilient to earthquakes. I would like to state with great pride today; through TOKİ, we have provided a total of 1 million 762 thousand social housing units to the service of our nation. More than 6 million people have gained modern living spaces. So far, we have succeeded in transforming 986 thousand units in Istanbul and 2 million 262 thousand independent sections across Turkey.
The more prepared and resilient Istanbul is to disasters, the stronger Istanbul will be. I want to make a call to all our citizens; come and benefit from these campaigns. Join the campaigns to strengthen your building."
"URBAN TRANSFORMATION IS A MATTER OF NATIONAL SECURITY"
Before President Erdoğan, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum made a speech, using the following statements:
"It is not the fear of earthquakes, but safe houses that suit Istanbul. Whatever we said on the election platforms, we are implementing them one by one. Just as we allocated 100 thousand of the 500 thousand houses to Istanbul, we also allocate every two urban transformation projects we implement in Turkey to Istanbul. Because we see urban transformation for Istanbul not only beyond urbanization but also as a matter of life safety, and even beyond that, as a matter of national security for Turkey. From now on, with God's permission, your will, and the trust of our nation, we will work. The low-income will breathe, and in the end, our nation will win. As a state, we are mobilizing our power for Istanbul. In this direction, we are implementing a great project. Our citizens will live peacefully in these houses. I wish the best to our 100 thousand citizens."
THE DRAW WILL LAST 3 DAYS
The draw that will determine the right holders will start today and last for 3 days. On April 27, the right holders of 100 thousand houses will be determined.
THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS CAME FROM ISTANBUL
Most applications were made from Istanbul to the project where TOKİ aims to make low-income citizens homeowners. A total of 1 million 235 thousand 169 people applied in the city. Within the scope of the project, the monthly net household income limit determined for Istanbul was 145 thousand lira, while in other provinces this figure was applied as 127 thousand lira.
PAYMENT TERMS AND HOUSING TYPES
It was announced that the houses to be built in Istanbul will be of type 1+1 and 2+1. TOKİ will offer the houses for sale with a 10% down payment, a 240-month installment term, and installments starting from 7 thousand 313 lira. Installment amounts will be updated every 6 months depending on the rate of increase in civil servant salaries.
The payment plan for the houses included in the project was also announced. Accordingly;
55 square meter 1+1 apartments will be sold with a down payment of 195 thousand lira and installments of 7 thousand 313 lira,
65 square meter 2+1 houses will be sold with a down payment of 245 thousand lira and installments of 9 thousand 188 lira,
80 square meter 2+1 apartments will be sold with a down payment of 295 thousand lira and installments of 11 thousand 63 lira.
