Two women who entered five jewelry stores in Istanbul disguised as customers while wearing burqas and stole gold worth 3 million lira have been caught. It was revealed that the 16-year-old theft suspect has 51 criminal records, while the 27-year-old suspect has 39. Both suspects have been arrested and sent to prison.
On May 13, in the Akşemsettin neighborhood of Eyüpsultan district in Istanbul, two women disguised in veils entered a jewelry store and stole jewelry worth 375,000 lira. Following a tip-off, the Theft Bureau teams initiated work to capture the suspects, determining that they had also committed thefts from other jewelry stores using the same method.
3 MILLION TL SCAM FROM 5 JEWELRY STORES
Teams examining security camera footage identified that one of the thieves distracted the shop owner while the other committed the theft. It was determined that the suspects had stolen from 5 jewelry stores using the same method, taking jewelry worth 3 million lira.
16 YEARS OLD WITH 51 CRIMINAL RECORDS
The police captured the suspects N.P. (27) and S.K. (16) in an operation conducted in Küçükçekmece after identifying their identities. It was found that N.P. had 39 previous criminal records. The other suspect, S.K., who was sent to the Child Branch Directorate due to being underage, was found to have 51 criminal records.
BOTH SUSPECTS WERE ARRESTED
After completing their procedures at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse and were arrested and sent to prison.
