The expected step has been taken regarding Istanbul's chronic taxi issue. In today's UKOME meeting, the application-based taxi system was approved in Istanbul. 2,500 new taxis based on this application will be put into service.

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) UKOME Meeting was held at the 1453 Çırpıcı Social Facilities. During the meeting, it was decided unanimously to accept the 'Application-Based Taxi Transportation System', which includes the introduction of 2500 new taxis by İBB.

2,500 NEW APPLICATION-BASED TAXIS ARE COMING

Within the scope of the application, it was determined that the 2,500 taxis that will be put into service will only be able to provide service through İBB-licensed digital taxi calling applications and will not be able to pick up passengers on the street. Payments will be made with credit cards and Istanbulkart. The color and design of the taxis will be made in a way that passengers can recognize them as digital taxis. It was learned that the details of the application will be discussed in the İBB Council and the taxi auctions and the implementation date will be determined by İBB.

THERE WILL BE NO ROOF LIGHT

With the decision, the new taxi system will not have a roof light. Passenger pick-up will be done through application or integrated taxi stops.

T PLATE VEHICLES WILL BE USED

Stamped T plate vehicles will be used, and the taxis will also have a security partition. In addition, it is aimed to improve the negative perception of taxi drivers in the public. It is also expected that this situation will provide an opportunity for the transition to a corporate taxi transportation system.
