Following the disarmament of a 30-member terrorist group from the PKK, a statement was made by the DEM Party. The statement said, "The PKK's decision to bid farewell to arms has revealed the assurance that not only the Kurdish issue but all of Turkey's problems can be resolved through democratic means. Now is the time for all of us to take steps towards a democratic Turkey of the future by making democratic, political, and legal arrangements together."
Historic moments were experienced in the Terror-Free Turkey process that began with the call of MHP General Chairman Devlet Bahçeli. A group of 30 members of the terrorist organization PKK laid down their arms in Suleymaniye.

Regarding the issue, a statement was made by the DEM Party. In a written statement signed jointly by DEM Party Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, the following expressions were included: "The weapons farewell ceremony is a call to live democratically, fairly, equally, and freely."

With these feelings and thoughts, we wholeheartedly salute the disarmament and transition to democratic politics initiative launched with a historic will by the Peace and Democratic Society Group on July 11, 2025. Because this step not only initiates a new era in the legitimate struggle for freedom of the Kurdish people but also in the quest for peace, equality, and democratic transformation in Turkey and the entire Middle East. Now is the time to take steps for the democratic Turkey of the future by making democratic, political, and legal arrangements together; it is time to expand the struggle for democratic politics.
