An allegation has emerged from CHP leader Özgür Özel regarding Manavgat Deputy Mayor Mehmet Engin Tüter, who was seen receiving a bribe in a baklava box. Özel stated, "The police caught him with 99.9% drugs in a traffic stop a month ago. They trained that baklava seller for a month. We have 32 hours of footage." Following this allegation, the prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into Özel.

On July 4th, as part of the "bribery" investigation targeting the Manavgat Municipality in Antalya, Manavgat Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara was arrested, while the "baklava" scandal overshadowed the investigation. Deputy Mayor Mehmet Engin Tüter was caught red-handed in his office with 110,000 euros in a baklava box. Tüter was also arrested by the on-duty magistrate he was brought before and sent to prison.
SPECIAL: THEY TRAINED THE BAKLAVA SELLER FOR 1 MONTH, WE HAVE FOOTAGE
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who held a rally in Antalya, brought attention to a striking claim regarding the scandalous footage. Özel stated: "Look, for days, there has been that baklava seller. You know, the one who calmly opens the box when the police say 'Open the box.' The police caught him a month ago. They caught him with illegal alcohol and a suspicious package containing 99.9% drugs. They trained that baklava seller for a month.
"THEY MADE HIM A INFORMANT IN THEIR OWN WAY"
They sent that baklava seller there and also sent a bagman after him. We have 32 hours of footage. They planned it minute by minute. I said yesterday, Melih Gökçek's son is a bad seed. That bad seed's baklava seller is the one who has been planning the baklava box that he asked us about for a month. What was the plan? They took the baklava seller. They made him an informant in their own way. There is a difference of 3 council members between AKP and CHP in Manavgat. The baklava seller named 4 people. They took them inside. They quickly tried to go to the municipal council election and transfer Manavgat to AKP. Just at that moment, the municipal council members resigned. Their replacements came from the substitutes. AKP's plan didn't work at that moment."
"THEY WANTED TO TAKE THE DISTRICT THAT MANAVGATLI DID NOT GIVE"
So what happened? The prosecutor called the baklava seller again. The baklava seller named four more council members. He said, 'I am an informant.' He got all 4 of them arrested. AKP went ahead of CHP again. They will hold elections again to take the district that Manavgatlı did not give to AKP. At that moment, it turned out that our council members had resigned while being detained. The substitutes will be called again. AKP is applying, 'You can't call them. We will elect the president and then you will call them,' the prosecutor who carried out this process is the head of the Manavgat District Election Board. We said no. We objected. The objection went to Ankara, to the YSK. YSK said CHP is right. Today, they sent the letter. Against this setup, in the late afternoon, instead of signing, the prosecutor's wife, the head of the Manavgat district election board, said she was sick and got a report."
AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED AGAINST ÖZEL
Following Özel's claim, the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took action. In a statement from the Chief Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that Özel publicly disseminated clearly false information regarding an ongoing investigation under the jurisdiction of the Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in a manner likely to disrupt public peace during an open-air event held by his party today in Antalya.
In the statement, it was recorded that an investigation was initiated against Özel for the crime of "publicly disseminating misleading information" under Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code No. 5237 due to these actions.
