Two people who illegally excavated for treasure in Konya Meram lost their lives in the pit they dug.
The lifeless bodies of Hilmi Konukcu (36) and Ali Çelikbaş (50), who were engaged in illegal excavation in the Meram district of Konya, were recovered from the well they had entered.

The incident occurred in the Mordor castle area of Kızılören neighborhood, Meram district center. According to allegations, Hilmi Konukcu (36) and Ali Çelikbaş (50), who were conducting unauthorized excavations to search for treasure, lost their lives in the well they had dug.
Upon notification, health, gendarmerie, UMKE, and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene. During the teams' operation at the scene, the lifeless bodies of Hilmi Konukcu and Ali Çelikbaş were retrieved from the well. The exact cause of death of Hilmi Konukcu and Ali Çelikbaş will be determined by the autopsy results.
An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
