Eighty-year-old Ayşe Şahin, who went out to graze her animals in the Serik district of Antalya, went missing. Following a report from her relatives, search efforts were initiated, and Şahin was found alive after 24 hours. The elderly woman, who was determined to have fallen into a 5-meter crevice in a rocky area about 3 kilometers from her home, was rescued after an hour of work.
Ayşe Şahin (80), who lives in Hasdümen Neighborhood of Serik district in Antalya, left her home on the morning of Saturday, February 21, to graze her small livestock. Her son, Mesut Şahin, who could not get news from her until the evening, reported the situation to the village headman. Upon the notification, gendarmerie, AFAD, and JASAT teams were dispatched to the area. During the search efforts, the small livestock belonging to Ayşe Şahin were found in the field, but she could not be reached.
FOUND TRAPPED IN A 5-METER CREVICE
The search efforts, which continued throughout the night, also resumed in the early hours of the morning. The teams headed to the rocky area in Gölcük locality of Hasdümen Neighborhood upon hearing sounds. It was determined that Ayşe Şahin had fallen into a 5-meter crevice in the rocky terrain and was trapped.
"MY BODY HURTS A LOT"
Ayşe Şahin, who was injured after being trapped among the rocks about 3 kilometers from her home, was rescued after an hour-long effort. During the rescue operations, when a staff member asked her, "Does it hurt?" she replied, "It hurts a lot." It was learned that Şahin had fractures in her feet after being taken to Serik State Hospital.
"THANK GOD I AM ALIVE"
Bayram Bulut, the village headman of Hasdümen Neighborhood, said, "After the son reported to us that he was missing, we informed the gendarmerie. Since 7:00 PM yesterday, we have been conducting search efforts in the area with AFAD and gendarmerie teams, as well as local residents. A few hours later, we found the small livestock he had taken to graze. The search continued until late at night. After a short break, we continued the search until morning. During the search, we heard a sound, and when we headed there, we found our aunt in the rocky area. With the approximately 1-hour effort of AFAD and gendarmerie teams, our aunt Ayşe was rescued from where she fell. Thank God she is alive, it made us happy," he said.
