In an operation carried out in four provinces centered on Mersin against the terrorist organization DAESH, 3 of the suspects captured were arrested, while 4 were released under judicial control conditions. A large amount of foreign currency and 397,768 TL were seized in the operation.
Under the coordination of the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, teams of the Provincial Gendarmerie Command Anti-Terror Branch Directorate conducted work to expose the financial sources of the terrorist organization ISIS. In the teams' work within the framework of preventing the financing of terrorism, 9 suspects were identified in the Silifke and Erdemli districts of Mersin and in Istanbul, Kocaeli and Kayseri.
A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY WAS SEIZED
During the operation carried out simultaneously by gendarmerie teams in 4 provinces on October 13, 9 suspects were caught, and 397,768 TL along with foreign currencies assessed to have been obtained from crime and a large number of digital materials were seized. The 9 suspects whose procedures at the gendarmerie were completed were referred to the courthouse. While 2 of the suspects were released by the prosecutor's office, 7 were referred to court.
3 PEOPLE ARRESTED
Of the suspects brought before the court, 3 were arrested, while 4 were released under judicial control and a foreign travel ban. The investigation into the operation is ongoing.
