In the investigation into “bid-rigging” and “graft” concerning Bakırköy Municipality, 39 of the 40 suspects who were referred to the magistrate with a request for remand in custody were remanded in custody. Among those remanded are deputy mayors and 2 municipal council members. Eighteen people, including the 86-year-old father of Mayor Ayşegül Ovalıoğlu, Mustafa Özdemir, and her maternal uncle Metin Soğuksu, were released subject to judicial control conditions.
