45 Historical Artifacts Seized In Southern Turkey

Objects include 37 coins, 2 arrowheads, ring; suspect detained.

At least 45 historical artifacts were seized and a suspect was held for smuggling in Turkey's southern province of Kahramanmaras on Thursday, security officials said.

The provincial gendarmerie command received a tip-off that a suspect was scanning the ground with a detector in a neighborhood.

In the operation to round up the suspect, the security personnel also seized 37 coins, two arrowheads, a ring as well as five other objects of historical value.

While the suspect, identified by the initials F.Y., was taken to the police department after a health check-up; the artifacts will be sent to the Museum Directorate of Kahramanmaras.
