A fourth wave operation was carried out in the corruption investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that detention warrants had been issued for 49 individuals, while Ekrem İmamoğlu's Chief of Staff Kadriye Kasapoğlu, Security Director Mustafa Akın, and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Arif Gürkan Alpay, as well as Kiptaş General Manager Ali Kurt, were taken into custody.
A notable development has occurred in the corruption investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. In the fourth wave operation that took place in the early hours of the morning, close associates of İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is detained in Silivri Prison, were taken into custody.
KİPTAŞ GENERAL MANAGER ALSO IN CUSTODY
Among those taken into custody are İmamoğlu's Private Secretary Kadriye Kasapoğlu, Protection Director Mustafa Akın, Kiptaş General Manager Ali Kurt, İBB Deputy Secretary General Arif Gürkan Alpay, and the Head of the Department of Neighborhoods Yavuz Saltık. Searches at homes and detention procedures are ongoing.
STATEMENT FROM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
The statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the operation is as follows: "Within the scope of file number 2024/228233 S.N, regarding the irregularities identified primarily in İstaç, Kiptaş, and the Road Maintenance Department, a directive has been issued to the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch for the execution of arrest, detention, search, and seizure procedures concerning the suspects, including Ali KURT, Ziya Gökmen TOGAY, İbrahim BÜLBÜLLÜ, Nezahat KURT, and Mustafa AKIN, among a total of 49 individuals, as of now, the arrest - detention, search - seizure procedures related to the suspects are ongoing."
