The meeting in Ankara of Victory Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, National Path Party Chairman Remzi Çayır, BTP Chairman Hüseyin Baş, Justice Party Chairman Vecdet Öz, and Kutlu Party Chairman Yusuf Halaçoğlu has begun.
The leaders answered journalists' questions as they entered the restaurant where the meeting was to take place. National Path Party Chairman Remzi Çayır said the following regarding the 'framework law':
"The framework law is not a project of Kurds or Turks; it is a project put into effect as a result of the United States of America blowing it into Mr. Devlet, who is a partner in power and in the People's Alliance in Turkey. This project has no future. It is not genuine, it is not realistic. It is not suitable for this geography. It is a path aimed at pardoning the terrorist leader and terrorists. Let them go and consult the Turkish nation. Does the Turkish nation approve of such a thing or not? Doesn't the President talk about a referendum? Come on, let's ask the nation. Let's see what the nation says about this. The color of the packaging and the shape of the packaging are nice, but the inside is poison.
Kurds have never had a war with Turks. Kurds have never had any dispute with Turks, therefore Kurds and Turks have no problem. If there is a terrorism problem, they can come and express their remorse. They can make such an effort by stating that guns are not a good thing and that killing people is actually bad. This is something else.
The persistent continuation of a project, which is currently being carried out on the floor of Parliament and is not really ours, is a game. You will see, at a further stage they will blame each other. Because it is not realistic, it is not ours. Therefore, our nation will not accept such impositions. The Turkish nation will also thwart this plan of the terrorists. I believe this."
In response to the question "Will the main item of the meeting be the 'framework law'?", Çayır answered, "We will discuss how Turkish nationalists will act together regarding the future." Upon the question "Are you talking about a new alliance?", Çayır said, "Yes, there is such a thing."
BAŞ: "WE DID NOT ATTEND A MEETING HERE UNDER THE TITLE OF AN ALLIANCE"BTP Chairman Hüseyin Baş also spoke as follows regarding the 'framework law':
"We made the necessary statements via social media. It is a law that was passed with the participation of our 468 members of parliament. There is not much more we can say from now on. Although it was enacted and it was said that the law is about social peace, in fact, when we look inside, we observe that it remains in the nature of a parole arrangement. We will make the necessary detailed statements in the future as well."
In response to the question of whether the main agenda of the meeting is the 'framework law', Baş gave the following answer:
"We came here with an invitation for a consultation meeting. We also observed that everyone has attributed different meanings to the meeting in recent days. For me, it is like this; as a young politician, this evening will be one where we have the opportunity to consult and chat with four different party leaders who have been in Turkish politics for years. I am sure it will be a nice evening for me.
We will consult. We will evaluate Turkey's agenda. It would not be right to say only the framework law. Economic problems are being experienced at their peak in Turkey. I expect this to be a meeting where we will discuss and consult on many things regarding the economy, and now that the school term is starting, regarding education."
In response to the question of whether an alliance statement would be made at the end of the meeting, Baş also answered as follows:
"I think Turkey's current agenda is not alliances. We cannot even be sure how much time there is until the elections. Will it be early, or will it be on time? Therefore, as I said, although different meanings have been attributed to this meeting recently, we did not attend a meeting here under the title of an alliance."
