The time has come for accountability for 5 suspects who sexually assaulted a disabled woman in Gaziantep. The judicial process regarding the vile attack against the unfortunate 24-year-old woman with speech and hearing disabilities has been completed. The suspects M.Ş.E., S.G., M.T., A.E., and the juvenile pushed to crime F.R., who were apprehended within the scope of the extensive investigation conducted by the Gaziantep Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, were arrested on charges of "Aggravated sexual assault" by the Criminal Court of Peace to which they were referred and sent to prison.
Justice has been served in the investigation into the gang sexual assault of a 24-year-old speech and hearing impaired woman in Gaziantep. Five suspects detained during the comprehensive investigation launched by the Gaziantep Chief Public Prosecutor's Office were arrested by the court and sent to prison.
SHE LEFT HOME TO GO TO THE GROCERY STORE AND NEVER RETURNED
The horrific incident occurred on August 13, 2026, at around 15:00 in the Cengiztopel Neighborhood of Gaziantep. The father, U.P., who could not hear from his speech and hearing impaired daughter after she left home to go to the grocery store, immediately reported the situation to the police. Initial investigations in the area revealed that the unfortunate woman had been put into a white vehicle and taken away from the region. The grieving father, stating they had no feud with anyone, filed a complaint against those involved.
SHE TOLD VIA SIGN LANGUAGE
Upon the report, police forces acted without delay and found the victim woman on Vatan Neighborhood Mehmet Gezelge Street at around 17:45 the same day. The disabled woman, who recounted her terrifying moments to her mother through sign language, stated that the people in the vehicle covered her mouth and sexually assaulted her.
FORENSIC MEDICINE DOCUMENTED THE ASSAULT
The Gaziantep Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, deepening the investigation, preserved the victim woman's clothes as evidence. In the forensic medicine examination of the disabled woman, whose statement was taken with the accompaniment of a communication expert, signs of actual sodomy were recorded in the report.
THE SUSPECTS' CONTRADICTORY STATEMENTS WERE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT
The statements of the suspects, caught in a successful police operation, during their interrogations have emerged:
Suspect M.Ş.E., who partially confessed to his crime during questioning at the police station, admitted to taking the disabled woman into his vehicle and sexually harassing her. Another suspect in the incident, S.G., denied the allegations against him.
M.T., the owner of the vehicle used in the crime, claimed he had no connection to the incident and that his car was used without his knowledge. Another suspect, A.E., argued that he had no physical contact with the disabled woman and only had a video call with her. It was learned that the statement of F.R., who has the status of a juvenile pushed into crime, was taken by the Prosecutor's Office within the framework of juvenile judicial procedures.
5 SUSPECTS SENT TO PRISON
After the completion of police procedures, M.Ş.E., S.G., M.T., A.E., and the juvenile pushed into crime, F.R., were referred to the courthouse on August 14, 2026, and were arrested by the Criminal Court of Peace on charges of "Aggravated Sexual Assault" and sent to prison.
