7 workers died in a collapse at a coal mine in Colombia's Cundinamarca region. Search and rescue efforts lasted 24 hours.

Seven workers lost their lives in a landslide at a coal mine in the Cundinamarca region of Colombia.

A landslide occurred at a coal mine operated in the village of Las Penas, part of the Sutatausa municipality in the Cundinamarca administrative region of Colombia. Authorities stated that after the notification, numerous mine rescue teams and emergency personnel were dispatched to the area.

SEARCH OPERATIONS LASTED 24 HOURS

Cundinamarca Governor Jorge Emilio Rey Angel announced that after approximately 24 hours of search and rescue efforts, the lifeless bodies of the 7 trapped workers were reached. Angel extended condolences to the families of the deceased workers and thanked the rescue teams, emergency personnel, and healthcare workers.

The Colombian National Mining Agency announced that an investigation will be conducted to determine the causes of the accident at the coal mine.
