A 17-year-old girl has died in a shark attack on Bribie Island, north of Brisbane. The young girl was attacked while swimming at Woorim Beach and could not be saved due to severe injuries. This marks the second major shark attack since the death of 28-year-old surfer Lance Appleby in South Australia in January.
A 17-year-old girl swimming off Bribie Island, north of Brisbane, has died following a shark attack. The incident occurred at Woorim Beach at 4:45 PM on Monday, where Queensland Ambulance crews attended to the girl, who had serious injuries to her upper body. The young girl passed away at 5:00 PM.
This fatal attack is the second major shark attack since the death of 28-year-old surfer Lance Appleby in South Australia in January. Appleby was attacked by a shark while surfing at The Granites beach, where a broken surfboard was found at the scene.
Additionally, in December, 40-year-old clergyman Luke Walford also lost his life due to a shark attack while spearfishing at the Great Barrier Reef.
There has been an increase in shark attacks in South Australia over the past two years. Experts indicate that the region is an ideal habitat for great white sharks, especially during this season.
